All Meal Kit Supply Canada Meal Kits have an estimated shelf life of 5 years when stored at room temperature (22°C / 72°F). Based on a study conducted by the US Army Natick R&D Laboratories, the shelf life of the MREs extend when stored at cooler temperatures and shorten at warmer temperatures.

The tests were based on acceptable taste measures only, though it also noted that acceptable nutritional content and basic product safety would extend beyond the point where taste degradation would occur.

This was an independent study performed on retort pouched meals and without the participation of MRE manufacturers. As such, Meal Kit Supply Canada cannot verify or guarantee the test procedures or findings, but the shelf life information from the study that follows is useful as a rule of thumb:
