Individual Meal Kit menu items are encased in a durable plastic carry bag with a pull-apart seal. All meals are fully cooked, fully hydrated, and can be eaten straight from the package or boil-in-bag.
For those who prefer to eat their food warm, retort pouches can be heated in several ways.
WARNING |
Never subject retort pouches to a direct flame. Spilled water or steam from an opened pouch can burn. |
| Boiling water: | Heat sufficient water in a pan to cover unopened retort pouch. Place unopened pouch in boiling water for 5 minutes until food is warmed through. Open carefully. |
| Direct heating: | Open pouch and place contents into a pan. Heat until food is at the desired temperature. |
| Sun warm: | Place unopened pouch in a sunny place on a warmed surface such as rock or sand. Heat until food is warmed through. |
| Body warm: | Place unopened pouch inside clothing to allow body heat to warm the food. |
| Flameless heater: | Cut the top from the water-activated flameless ration heater package. Insert the meal pouch against the heater. Add water to the "Fill line" and fold the bag closed. Heat meal for approximately 12 minutes. Contents will be hot. Open bag and pouch carefully. [Flameless heaters must be ordered at time of Meal Kit purchase.] |
| Each Meal kit has 1 of each of the following : Entrée item, Side dish, Dessert, Bread, Jam, Drink Mix, 6" Military spoon and condiment kit. 500 ml of water will provide you with enough water to make the beverage and the coffee |
| In order to heat the Entrée and Side dish item, place unopened food pouch in boiling water for 5 minutes. Alternatively, you can use the optional flameless ration heater. |
| Before opening the food pouch, push the contents away from the notches on the side of the package. You can tear open the package by hand at the notches. Be careful, the contents will be hot. |
| Enjoy state-of-the-art balanced nutrition directly from the food pouch with the 6" spoon. |
